Sony is keeping very quiet about this, but has recently begun to share with the world some beautiful screenshots. Being developed by ‘Team Ico’, a Sony Japan in-house development team, The Last Guardian is the final title in a trilogy of gorgeously realised fantasy world games. Ico was the first, released on the PS2 to critical acclaim, which was followed by the just as gorgeous Shadow of the Colossus.

The games all have the same amazing graphical look, with a soft focus feel and a true fantasy landscape. The team always focuses on creating the best possible graphics, but also pushes its skills to the limit in terms of realism. They’re also renowned for giving players an emotional link to the characters they share the journey with.

From the trailers its clear to see that is about a boy and his companion: a mythical beast that resembles a gryphon, part bird and part mammal. This ‘guardian’ looks to care for and protect the boy, and the gameplay is likely to follow the same style as the earlier games: combat and platform action. This looks set to be a heartstring-pulling story, but that’s likely to pull you into the experience even further.
